National Executive Member and Joint Secretary Samson Christian of All India Christian Council states in his press release that at Bhumas Village in Mahudha Taluka in Kheda District of Gujarat state, Thakore community had erected a pandal (mandap) and according to Gujarati Culture a Bhavai-Show had been arranged. As it was cultural programme Christians and Dalits of BhumasVillage had gone to watch the programme.

When the Thakores and Patels saw minority Christians and Dalits in the audience Thakores and Patels came with swords, sticks, daggers and pipes and started abusing Christian and Dalits in the name of religion and uttered “ dhedao, Why have you come?” with these words they pelted stones on minority Christian and Dalit members, and they were beaten up in open and were injured. They were not satisfied with this much so, they came under leadership of the former congress President of Taluka Panchayat of Kheda District of Gujarat State Shri Ramanbhai Sanabhai Patel to Bhumas Village in Christian Street, and the attackers beaten up women, young girls and boys of Christian community in open and behaved with them badly. The attackers pelted stones so many were injured and were admitted in Civil Hospital of Nadiad.

Police complaint was not lodged regarding the above given serious incident; the people who become prey of this incident at Bhumas had contacted All India Christian Council and asked for help. So, the organization drew attention of District Superintendent of Police (D.S.P.) of Kheda District. According to directions of D.S.P. of Kheda, the Police Inspector (P.I.) of Mahudha Taluka Police station had to register the complaint under I.P.C. sections 337, 504, 395,m 147, 148 and according to Atrocity Act Sections 3(1), 10. But police were according to arrest the attackers due to political influence.

Taking serious note of the above incident in which fatal attack was made upon Dalit community and minority Christian community All India Christian Council informed to Gujarat Government and on national level to Hon’ble President of India, Hon’ble President directed the Home Department of Govt. of India to take proper action in this regard. Also the National Human Rights Commission issued notice to the D.S.P. of Kheda District and asked to take needed measures and directed to submit report to N.H.R.C. within six weeks. Heeding the presentation made by All India Christian Council in this very serious case, the National Commission For Minorities (N.C.M.)has asked the Collector of Kheda District to take immediate action and directed to inform to N.C.M. about the procedure.

In this above given serious case strong procedure was followed at national level and All India Christian Council had taken long legal course. So, the attackers were booked and against them chapter case no. 115/05, 163/05, 164/05, 165/05, 066/05 were registered and according to Cr. P.C. 110 dated 01/12/2005 and chapter case no. 170/2005, 171/2005 and 172/2005 dated 15/12/2005 in Mahudha Police Station and this was investigated and inquired very strongly by Deputy Superintendent of Police of Kapadvanaj and so 17 persons have been arrested and have been passing through legal action. Police bandobast has been arranged in the village. Police have arrested the Former President of Congress of Taluka Panchayat. The congress party, which is called savior of Dalits and minority, the leader of congress party, has been arrested so the real face of the so-called secular congress party has come out. Dalits and minority Christian community are being tortured very often in Gujarat State and the police are remaining inactive and pampering the culprits. Our organization is strongly condemning such attitude of police and is urging and making strong demand to take measures for long time that such incidents will not take place in future in Gujarat state.
